Welcome to New PhD Student Daniel Bennett

Welcome to Daniel Bennett who joins us on an EPSRC PhD scholarship. Daniel research will focus on autonomy and intention formation in situations of interaction. He is interested in developing a framework for undertanding, measuring and designing for these concerns, and in developing systems which foster a sense of agency, control and reflection in their users.Prior to joining us, Daniel had an academic background in Philosophy. He then worked for several years in healthcare information before completing his MSc in computer science at Bristol.

Daniel is also active in music, developing novel software for music creation such as his “neural drum machine”: “Neurythmic” presented at NIME 2018. He has performed at concerts and festivals around the UK and Europe, composed for theatre and art installations, and curated event series for venues and galleries including Bristol’s Arnolfini and Southampton’s John Hansard.
Welcome Dan!
